Eric Oostenink, LMHC, IMHCA President

Erik Oostenink has been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Iowa since December 2001. He graduated from Dordt College in 1994 with a BA in Psychology and got his MA in Counseling from the University of South Dakota in 1996. He has worked in the mental health field, primarily with children, since he was an undergraduate. His work experience includes working in a group home with adolescents, EAP, and community mental health centers. He presently is employed by Orchard Place, working in the outpatient Child Guidance Center branch with children, adolescents, and families.

Erik is currently IMHCA President. He has been a member of the Iowa Mental Health Counselors Association since 2006 and has served as Secretary and also in the role of BCBS Special Task Force Chair to gain recognition from Blue Cross Blue Shield in Iowa for reimbursement of LMHCs. He attended the Leadership Development training in St. Louis in July 2006, and represented the IMHCA at the 2007 AMHCA Conference in New Orleans.

The Iowa Mental Health Counselors Association is a chapter of the American Mental Health Counselors Association. IMHCA is the only organization dedicated exclusively to meeting the professional needs of mental health counselors in Iowa. Its sole purpose is to promote the profession of mental health counseling and the needs of our clients.

IMHCA is incorporated as a not-for-profit entity to serve the professional needs of Iowa mental health counselors under the provisions of Iowa Code chapter 504A.
